Jessi is a key member of our team, volunteering untold hours to help us get Otter Creek Foundation up and running. Always available to lend a hand after hours and on weekends, she has provided critical support in establishing administrative policies and procedures as well as setting up potential donor leads and drafting communications artifacts. Jessi also helped to focus our logistics intake as donations of laboratory equipment, although well meaning, required considerable repair and maintenance as well as calibration. She recommended courses of action on whether we should keep the equipment, repair it or send off to recycling. Jessi also volunteered to be the Project Management Support Lead and Project Control for the Lower Keys Marsh Rabbit Study once funding is approved. In this role she will assist in drafting and review of the initial agreements we will use between our organization and the US Navy to allow us access to the Naval Air Facility at Boca Chica in Key West, which is one of the primary locations of this endangered species. She will also help to schedule and support the volunteers that would be assigned to conduct the study. Although this project may only take a few weeks to complete, it could be instrumental in determining the current population and well being of the Lower Keys Marsh Rabbit. Jessi has also volunteered after hours effort for the planned Invasive Iguana population control project and the Invasive Lionfish genome sequencing effort once these projects begin.
Jessi is one of those individuals that everyone gets to know right away and instantly like. She is vibrant and always upbeat, funny and endearing. Always passionate about her work, she is someone you can depend upon. Jessi is most deserving of our first Volunteer Spotlight.
